Investigators of Science

Middle School Science Day Camp

What is Investigators of Science?

Investigators of Science invites middle school students to solve a mystery while exploring STEM subjects--including biology, chemistry, math, computer science, health and human performance, and psychology.

Designed and hosted by Eastern Oregon University faculty, this event has been honored with many awards from the American Chemical Society, a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing chemical science.

When is it?

Investigators of Science takes place every year in the Fall. The 2026 event will be on October 24th.

All updates and new information will be posted on this page.

How do applications work?

We accept 100 students each year, and often more than that apply. We try to make sure every student is able to attend once before completing middle school, and we try to encourage students from all over eastern Oregon to apply.

Applications will be posted here on this page when they open, usually in September.

Why STEM?

While STEM isn't directly healthcare, NEOAHEC is passionate about this event because it gets young students interested in the sciences, which is the first step to a career in healthcare.

Plus, since there are minimal educational activities locally, such as museums or science centers, this event offers a way to engage students in STEM outside of school without a long road trip.
