Local Students Accepted to Esteemed Summer Medical Camp

[La Grande, OR—May 3, 2017]: Northeast Oregon Area Health Education Center (NEOAHEC) of La Grande has selected 36 students to attend its 25th Annual MedQuest Health Career Exploration Camp, which will take place from June 19-23, 2017. These students are as follows, in addition to the cities where they attend school:>

These distinguished young applicants were chosen from a pool of more than 60 candidates from across Oregon, and were selected based on their GPA, extracurricular involvement, essays, passion for the healthcare field, and many other relevant factors.

MedQuest is Oregon’s only health career exploration camp and is held at the Eastern Oregon University campus and surrounding community. It exposes students completing grades 9-12 to a variety of unique medical experiences, including various types of healthcare training, live surgeries, tours of medical facilities, ambulance calls, and more. Students also participate in exciting job shadows, panel discussions, and local recreational activities.

NEOAHEC would like to extend its gratitude to several local organizations that have supported this year’s MedQuest program: Animal Health Center, Grande Ronde Hospital, La Grande School District, Winters Naturopathic Clinic, Mark L. Harris, DMD, Koza Family Dental Care, Oregon Trail Electric, Moda, Community Bank of La Grande, Soroptimist International of La Grande, Morrow County Health District, Oregon Pacific AHEC, Cascades East AHEC, St. Anthony Hospital, Wasco School District, and Idaho Power.
