National Substance Abuse Prevention Month: Fawn Pettet
Fawn Pettet from Ontario is passionate about ensuring that all people have access to basic health services, including mental health, and she feels that health professionals have a responsibility beyond their patient work; they have more time, money and ability to advocate for better government health services. “I would like to see doctors and health professionals speak out and become politically active.”
This month, NEOAHEC is celebrating National Substance Abuse Prevention Month by featuring Fawn. After attending MedQuest in 1999, she got really passionate about making systemic changes that help those experiencing substance abuse and mental health issues, especially among homeless populations. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boise State University and got involved in a non-profit shelter for people experiencing homelessness in Boise as the Development and Social Services Director.
Thank you, Fawn, for everything you do! For more stories like this one, visit neoahec.org.
