National Patient Transport Week: Autumn Bennett Strand

“Most of the time having a baby goes smoothly but when things go wrong it can be the worst kind of emergency,” shared Autumn Bennett Strand. “My job is to know as quickly as possible if something is not right so I can tell the doctor. I am his eyes, ears and hands until he gets to the bedside. It is an incredible responsibility.”

In honor of National Patient Transport Week, we’d love for you to learn more about Autumn. We interviewed her in 2008 to see what she did after going to MedQuest in 1996 and found that she was working as a labor & delivery nurse and was part of the Air St Luke's Maternal Transport Team, which was responsible for picking up high-risk pregnant patients and transporting them to the hospital. She later moved to La Grande and began working at Grande Ronde Hospital.
