Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month: Randi Gibbs
“Radiology is a huge, diverse field,” says Randi Gibbs, a radiologist who was featured in our 2008 Success Stories. “I have a passion for working in Computed Axial Tomography (CT). Each patient brings something new. The medical field is always full of surprises, and the technology is ever changing and evolving.”
This month is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month, and we are so happy to have people like Randi in our network. At our annual board meeting, the NEOAHEC Board of Directors met with Jeremy Davis, the CEO & President of Grande Ronde Hospital. He told us that by far, radiologists are the hardest for GRH to recruit.
For Randi Gibbs, radiology isn’t just a gap in the local workforce, it’s her passion. She had always wanted to be a nurse—until she shadowed one at MedQuest in 1996 and realized it wasn’t for her. Following camp, she spent 9 months shadowing a radiologist, got a job at the Bend Medical Center, and got to work on her education.
