Medical-Surgical Nurses week: Cassie Standiford

“My job as a surgical nurse circulator involves doing everything in the operating room that is not sterile,” Cassie Standiford describes her job. “I have all the materials and supplies available that the surgical staff and the patient might need, and I act as a patient advocate in surgery. I make sure the patient gets the right care.”

In 2008, we interviewed past participants to see where they went after our programming, and Cassie had become a surgical nurse. In honor of Medical-Surgical Nurses week, we’d love for you to read her story. She went to MedQuest in 1996 and served on the NEOAHEC Board of Directors from 2002-2005.
