Funding Update
Thank you to everyone who signed our recent letter urging lawmakers to protect Oregon AHEC. Your support highlights how deeply our rural communities value AHEC programs.
A noticeable impact
With her signature, Ginny Elder at OHSU School of Nursing in La Grande shared, “In my experience as a nurse educator and a Nurse Practitioner, I know AHEC has inspired many to move into health careers after high school. We now have RNs, Primary Care NPs, and MDs in our region who attended NEOAHEC camps and were given the chance to see health-related work firsthand and it inspired them to return to their communities to practice."
Funding for grant lost
While this letter focused on statewide AHEC funding, we want to share that NEOAHEC recently lost the federal grant we were awarded last year during the most recent continuing budget resolution. This grant would have supported OB and neonatal simulation training in response to the Baker City maternity ward closure. We are actively pursuing new funding for this equipment.
