National Recognition & Registration Open Date
Don’t miss this year’s Investigators of Science camp for all students in grades 6-8. This is an annual day camp that offers hands-on STEM activities with students and faculty from Eastern Oregon University (EOU) and the team at NEOAHEC. Hosted in collaboration between EOU and NEOAHEC, Investigators of Science allows students to dive head-first into an engaging science mystery that showcases how the STEM field is integrated into the healthcare workforce.
Investigators of Science has won a ChemLuminary award from the American Chemical Society (ACS) for the Most Creative National Chemistry Week Celebration Using the Yearly Theme! As Girls in Science, the event won awards from 2003-2009 and again in 2020, for an Outstanding Public Outreach Event during the Pandemic. Thank you EOU for your help and dedication to this event!
The ACS is a non-profit founded in 1876 that focuses on advancing chemical science broadly across the country. The Richland Section of the ACS is a longtime supporter of Investigators of Science, and their recognition is an honor.
“The ChemLuminary award is a national recognition that speaks to the outstanding quality of the Investigators of Science program. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of outreach events organized throughout the country. Ours received this top award because of the hard work of NEOAHEC and EOU faculty, staff, and students. Together we have developed an innovative and creative event that welcome children from all backgrounds to enjoy a day of pure science investigations,” said Anna Cavinato, Professor of Chemistry at Eastern Oregon University.
This year’s Investigators of Science camp will be held at EOU in La Grande, on November 4, 2023 from 8:00AM to 3:00PM. Registration is open to all students in grades 6-8, but space is limited to 100 students. Registration will be open from September 26, 2023 to mid-October, and you can find the registration link on our website as soon as it's available.
