Health Speaker Series
Connecting undergraduate students and community members with healthcare professionals!
What is the Health Speaker Series?
Organized by NEOAHEC and the Eastern Oregon University Pre-Professional Health Club, the Health Speaker Series (HSS) engages undergraduate students and community members with unique health career presentations each academic term. Health providers, graduate students, or representatives from health career programs are invited to relay their educational and career journeys, advice for students considering their career, and thoughts about why it is so valuable to practice in a rural area. The sessions are held in EOU’s Huber Auditorium in La Grande, with each featuring a different career theme, such as “Pharmacy Night,” “Physical Therapy Night,” and so on.
The HSS provides invaluable networking opportunities between students and current industry professionals. These are some of the topics guests should expect to hear about at our presentations:
- Why did the presenter choose their career path?
- Tests, licenses, education, and other preparation they had to complete
- Surprises and challenges along the way
- The most rewarding aspects of their work
- Tips for success
- And much more!
