Future Health Professionals of Oregon

Students: Earn college credit and expand your knowledge of health careers!

FHPO is a two-credit SCI 116 online Eastern Promise course for high school students who are interested in learning about the exciting world of health careers. This fundamental starting block for students interested in healthcare exposes participants to contemporary topics in the field, allows them to complete 12 hours of healthcare job shadows (or a comparable community project), and research a multitude of health careers.

The course also satisfies PES 131—a required course for all tracks within EOU's Physical Activity & Health Programand is delivered through Eastern Oregon University's Canvas platform by approved high school teachers who have participated in NEOAHEC's annual GO-Healthcare Professionals Summer Institute.

It is currently approved for following schools:

  • Baker High School
  • Burns High School
  • Elgin High School
  • Grant Union Jr./Sr. High School
  • Heppner High School
  • Hood River Valley High School
