Two-credit online course for High School Students offered by Eastern Oregon University Early College Initiatives
FHPO will now be Integrated into the Human Health and Performance Department at Eastern Oregon University and renamed to HHP-131.
HHP-131 is a two-credit online Eastern Promise course for high school students who are interested in learning about the exciting world of health careers and includes more information and training on professional development and communication. This fundamental starting block for students interested in healthcare exposes participants to contemporary topics in the field, allows them to complete 12 hours of healthcare job shadows (or a comparable community project), and research a multitude of health careers.
The course also satisfies PES 131—a required course for all tracks within EOU's Health & Human Performance Program—and is delivered through Eastern Oregon University's Canvas platform by approved high school teachers who have participated in NEOAHEC's annual GO-Healthcare Professionals Summer Institute.
It is currently approved for following schools:

*If you attend one of these schools, check with your advisor or health instructor to see when the course will be offered during the academic year. If the course isn't offered at your school and you reside in Baker, Umatilla, Union, or Morrow counties, you may be eligible to register for the course through the InterMountain Education Service District. However, be sure to check with your advisor before registering.

Are you a high school instructor in Eastern Oregon with a master’s degree or ample experience in a science or a health-related field? Do you want to provide your students with dual-credit curriculum to expand their horizons about careers in the healthcare industry?
Consider participating in the GO-Healthcare Professionals PLC (Professional Learning Community)! New members join a dynamic network of more than a dozen other regional high school teachers who are promoting health careers by delivering our unique, pre-built curriculum in their classrooms.
Requirements
All instructors who would like to join our PLC and offer the online HHP-131 curriculum are required to participate in our Summer Teacher Institute and several brief PLC check-in sessions throughout the year to make sure they are experts on the curriculum.
The Summer Institute is BACK!
Who: Teachers that plan to teach HHP131 (what used to be SCI-116) for dual credit next year.
What: Three day training class to learn the updated class material and prepare for teaching HHP131.
When: August 8-10. The class will start late morning on the 8th (11am) and end early afternoon (1pm) on the 10th.
Where: The class will be held on the EOU La Grande Campus. Teachers attending from out of town can stay in the EOU dorms and all costs are covered by EOU, including lunches daily.
Why: To prepare for HHP131. To earn masters credits. This summer institute will be offered as a ED-510 Masters class. Your tuition will be covered by NEOAHEC. This is a value of $400 and you will earn 2 masters credits.
